PRIME MINISTER, UPA CHAIRPERSON DEDICATES TO PEOPLE GHAT KI GUNI TUNNEL PROJECT

JAIPUR: The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and  Chairperson of UPA. Sonia Gandhi dedicated to the people of the Rajasthan, the historic Rs. 150 crore 'Ghat Ki Guni Tunnel Project' opening path to progress in the east of Jaipur on Saturday in Jaipur.

The Prime Minister, UPA Chairperson and Guest of Honour Chief Minister of  Rajasthan Shri Ashok Gehlot took a round of the tunnel after the dedication function.

Before this, on reaching at the place of function, the Prime Minister, UPA Chairperson were welcomed by the Rajasthan Chief Minister, Shri Ashok Gehlot, the State Minister for Urban Development Shri Shanti Dhariwal, Former Minister of Rajasthan Dr. Chandrabhan, MP Jaipur Dr. Mahesh Joshi, Jaipur Mayor Smt. Jyoti Khandelwal and Principal Secretary Urban Development & Housing Shri G.S. Sandhu. A Video presentation about the tunnel project was also made on the occasion.

The total length of 'Ghat Ki Guni Tunnel Project' is 2800 meters. It has two tunnels of 870 meters each and both tunnels inter-connect at a distance of 330 meters. This is the first project, which is based on B.O.T. structure and was completed in a stipulated time.

The 'Ghat Ki Guni Tunnel Project' has many special features. It will have controlled traffic movement through computer panels and modern techniques. The tunnel has two inter-connecting passages to overcome situation like break down and accidents of the vehicles. It has carving, arches and walls color washed with pink shades representing the exquisite craftsmanship of Jaipur in Guni. The tunnel has sensors for control of air pollution levels, display boards and cameras for speed control of the vehicles, ventilation fans and telephone booths, provision of adequate illumination, ultra modern fire-extinguishing equipments and footpaths for pedestrians.

The tunnel will provide alternative and safe transportation on Jaipur-Agra route. It will also help development of historical monuments of Ghat Ki Guni as tourist point. The journey through tunnel will not burden any private vehicle.

The Union Culture Minister Smt. Chandresh Kumari, Union Minister of State for Finance Shri Namonarian Meena, Union Minister for State for Rural Development Shri Lal Chand Kataria, Members of State Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, MPs and MLAs of state, Chairman of different boards and commissions, Members of the empowered committee constituted by Supreme Court, Chief Secretary Shri C.K. Mathew, DG Police Shri Harish Chandra Meena, JDA Commissioner Shri Kuldeep Ranka, Officers and employees of JDA and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
